“One of the best American sedans we've driven in a long, long time.” - AutoWeek
The Chevrolet SS is the first rear-wheel-drive sedan to enter the Chevrolet portfolio in 17 years. Engineered for enthusiasts, this V8 sports sedan stays true to its roots by delivering performance with elegance. And behind it all is the confidence of knowing you’ve got the support of Chevrolet Complete Care. SS offers an exhilarating driving experience while providing luxurious space, comfort and convenience for up to five adults. Styling is aggressive yet refined from the inside out.
Chevrolet has loaded the SS with active-safety features, including standard forward collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind-zone alert, and rear cross traffic alert, and a rear vision camera. There are also eight standard airbags, including knee bags for the driver and front passenger. Feature-wise, the SS is the first Chevrolet to feature Automatic Parking Assist, which will help steer you into a parking spot. Leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated-and-ventilated front seats, keyless access, push-button start, remote start, a head-up display, and 220-watt Bose audio are all included. So is Chevrolet MyLink, which has an eight-inch color touch screen and can help manage hands-free conversations, media, and infotainment apps through a connected smartphone.
Combine the smoothness of the 6-speed automatic transmission, 415-horsepower 6.2L V8 with the capability of TAPshift® and StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control, and the traction of a limited-slip rear differential to create one fast sport sedan — reaching 60 mph in 5 seconds. And race-proven Brembo® 4-piston brakes with two-piece aluminum front calipers and massive 14-inch rotors are ready to stand up to repeated hard stops. Unlike the competition, the production Chevrolet SS has the same rear-wheel-drive small block V8 configuration as its NASCAR® sibling. With Chevrolet SS, you get attainable luxury mixed with some serious racetrack DNA.
The SS is big, with the same interior volume and 35 percent more trunk space than a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, according to the EPA, on a substantially shorter wheelbase. It boasts suede and leather, attractive gauges, and solid touch points. It's a nice place to spend a lot of time. The 10-way power seats are heated and ventilated allowing customization for different driver preferences. And with seating for five and 39.7 inches of leg room for the rear-seat passengers, SS doesn’t sacrifice comfort for vigor.
Joe Phillippi of AutoTrends Consulting sums it up perfectly by stating, "The fit and finish of the car is absolutely first rate." "The performance of the car is just terrific."
