All of the details have yet to be released about the Camaro Z28, but needless to say there are a lot of people that are excited for it. Here’s a quick look at some of the features this beast will display.
This all new fifth generation Camaro Z28 is the ideal car for anyone that is looking for a street legal racing car. Equipped with a high revving naturally aspirated small block LS7 7.0-liter V8 with an estimated 500 HP with 470 lb-ft of torque, this car has all the power you could want. It has a standard differential cooler, transmission cooler, brake coolers and carbon-ceramic brakes that have been designed for the track with no fade. The LS7 engine is paired with a TREMEC TR6060 6-speed manual gearbox that features close-ratio gearing. The power is distributed to the rear wheels by a limited-slip differential which features a helical gear set rather than a traditional clutch pack.
This car was made to be extremely light, the trunk carpet and insulation have been taken out, thinner glass was used for the rear window, air conditioning has been made optional and all speakers but one have been removed. The Z28 features lightweight Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix rotors and fixed monoblack calipers. The carbon calipers help to make the Z28 extremely light saving it 22 pounds when compared to other vehicles. Overall the Camaro Z28 is about 300 pounds lighter than the Camaro ZL1. If you are wondering why only one speaker was left, it’s because at least one speaker has to be in the car so that you can hear the seatbelt chime that lets you know a seat belt isn’t buckled. Chevrolet engineers have described the grip to be “nothing short of incredible.” Chevrolet has said that this monster should be in showrooms later this year and that they expect to see them on the track in spring 2014.
